Course Overview:

This course is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in computerized accounting using three widely used accounting software: Peachtree Quantum, QuickBooks Pro, and Tally ERP. By the end of the course, students will have a solid understanding of accounting principles and how to apply them using these software tools for real-world business applications.

 

Module 1: Introduction to Computerized Accounting (1 Week)

  • Overview of Accounting Principles

Module 2: Peachtree Quantum (Sage 50) (3 Weeks)

  1. Peachtree Interface and Setup
    • Navigating the Peachtree interface
    • Setting up a company and fiscal year
    • Creating a chart of accounts
  2. Recording Transactions
    • Entering journal entries
    • Recording sales, purchases, receipts, and payments
    • Managing vendors, customers, and employees
  3. Inventory Management
    • Managing inventory, stock levels, and adjustments
    • Creating purchase orders and receiving inventory
  4. Banking and Reconciliation
    • Managing bank accounts
    • Reconciling bank statements
  5. Financial Reports and Analysis

Module 3: QuickBooks Pro (3 Weeks)

  2. Recording Financial Transactions
    • Entering and managing sales, invoices, receipts, and payments
    • Handling expenses, bills, and credit memos

    • Managing accounts receivable and payable
  4. Banking and Reconciliation
    • Setting up bank accounts and credit cards
    • Reconciling bank accounts and generating bank reports
  5. Inventory and Payroll Management

Module 4: Tally ERP (3 Weeks)

  2. Voucher Entry and Day-to-Day Transactions
    • Recording different types of vouchers: sales, purchase, receipt, payment, contra, journal
    • Managing ledgers and groups
  3. Inventory Management in Tally
    • Setting up stock groups, units, and items
    • Recording inventory purchases and sales
    • Managing stock adjustments
  4. Taxation and GST Implementation
    • Implementing tax settings: VAT, GST, TDS
    • Recording GST-compliant transactions and returns
  5. Financial Reporting and Reconciliation
    • Generating financial reports: Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Trial Balance
    • Performing bank reconciliations

Module 5: Final Project and Certification (2 Weeks)

    • Students will work on a final project involving setting up a company, entering transactions, and generating reports using either Peachtree, QuickBooks, or Tally based on real-life scenarios.
  2. Final Assessment
    • Practical examination based on the chosen software

    • Course completion certificate based on successful completion of the final project and exam
